Penelope’s Poems

I Wish To Write

Filed under: Uncategorized — penelopephoebe @ 2:10 pm

I wish to write on sheets of white

Crisp vellum all the day

With pen and ink dark as the night

But find I’ve nought to say

I tire of all the platitudes

The written smiles and sighs

The oh so righteous attitudes

And sparkly waved goodbyes

The fatuous and vacant lines

Of prose and poetry

Stifle the narrowing confines

Of my telemetry

The blankness of my ageing mind

Suits these empty pages

Yet maybe one day I shall find

A read that engages

  3. I love your beautiful way of describing writing and the frustrations therein.
What would we do without the paper, pen and keyboard???

  4. This is beautiful and right from you heart. I love your work.
I can sure identify with this. Words come and go and with the confussion of life I can not get them down or find photos to keep on my blog.
I think we all go through this and if Im the only one . .Well then oh well.
    I love your work Pen.
I havent been getting your updates. Too many things taking me away from here and home.

    • Thank you, Lisa. You know I feel praise from you is praise indeed. I hope you are not too tired from all the work I know you are doing right now. I hope your brother continues to improve. Take care. Pen.

  10. Your poetic mind is definitely sound Penny and I differ
on your description of an ageing mind, it is indeed rather
fresh and full of Spring to me… A nicely written, and
wicked poem here Penny, well done… You should write a
lot more you know as you certainly have a fine talent…

      • What I would like to know is when are you going to
add some more of your fine poetry here Penny? This
Space of yours needs a lot more input and I’m sure
that you have many poems just waiting to be added.

Have a really nice start to your week, it is sunny
again the forecast, although a little cooler this
week is still a very nice change I think?

        Be Good Now Penny

  11. I sort of lost my muse, Andro. Who knows, it may return some day. Hope you are having a splendid day with your lady love, Jen.

  12. Perhaps, it is aging? I can so relate to this poem. As said previously, ‘You rock.’ This captures, for me, those times when wordz feel all too familiar. Much is rerun? Done before? Yes the fatuousosity that leaves one in pretense of a yawn? Doubtful you age, more the perspective of age? I always enjoy a good Pen from Pen.

    • I must have been in a grumpy mood when I wrote this. I feel embarrassed by it now, Happy.

  13. Embarrassssed? Interesting you revisit and consider it in such a way? I can relate. I have paid a revisit to some of my poems and taken them into the intensive care of archives. Yet I still see this poem expressing something rarely admitted and that is those bouts of feeling weary with words. Poet burn-out?
